The Story of an Innovation: The Silicone Non-Slip Underscarf

The underscarf is the most fundamental piece of comfort in modest wear. But not every underscarf carries the same care and technology. At Ecardin, through R&D we started in 2015, we developed a technical solution to one of the most common problems for women who wear hijab: the slipping underscarf. In 2016 we patented this invention, becoming the first and original owner of the silicone non-slip underscarf concept.

From 2015 to Today: The Story of an Invention

Ecardin is not just a workshop that sews fabric; it is a manufacturer that has made and developed modest accessories since 1989. In 2015 we studied in detail how women had to keep fixing their scarves all day, and the damage pins did to scarves and to comfort.

The invention: Our trials showed that a special silicone strip placed along the forehead band greatly reduced slipping.

The 2016 patent: This invention was patented in 2016. Ecardin is the first owner of the "silicone non-slip underscarf" concept you see on the market today.

Today: With more than 100 patented designs and products reaching 49 countries, we keep developing.

Not Every Silicone Underscarf Is the Same

It is understandable to go for the cheapest option because "it is just an underscarf". But choices made to cut costs directly affect comfort.

Silicone quality

Poor silicone or adhesives can be hard and smelly, cause discomfort on the skin with sweat and peel off in the first washes. The silicone we use on Ecardin underscarves is a soft, flexible material suitable for textiles; it sits comfortably along the forehead and withstands washing.

Fabric quality

Fabrics that do not breathe and have a high synthetic content keep the scalp hot and become uncomfortable over long wear. Be careful of sellers who use the Ecardin name or images without permission:

Label and packaging: Make sure the product comes in original Ecardin packaging with an Ecardin label.

Touch test: Original silicone is soft, flexible and smooth. Stay away from products that are hard, smell of plastic or feel sticky.

Can a silicone underscarf be washed?

Yes. It can be washed at 30°C, inside out, on a delicate cycle or by hand. To make the silicone last, avoid ironing and tumble drying.
